It was identified by the kepler space telescope, and its discovery was announced by nasa on 23 july 2015. Kepler 452b is considered the most earth like planet yet discovered due to its size, location in its system and the type of star it orbits. Kepler 452b orbits its star at a similar distance that the earth orbits the sun. Any hypothetical explorers would thus feel about twice as heavy on the alien world as they do on earth, researchers said.
