Red Dwarf Kepler-186

Red Dwarf Kepler-186. Kepler 186f orbits a red dwarf star with around half the mass of the sun, red dwarfs are by far the most common type of star in our galaxy. Kepler 186f was discovered by using kepler space telescope which was designed to look for planets orbiting other stars.

The star is classified as an m dwarf, or red dwarf, a class of stars that makes up 70. The red dwarf star called kepler 186 (also known as kic 8120608) is located in the constellation of cygnus, the swan. Kepler 186 is a nice star happily living her life.

It is the first planet with a radius similar to earth's to be discovered in the habitable zone of another star.

Kepler 186 is a red dwarf 492 light years from earth. The first pleasant surprise, nonetheless quite expected, is that the planet is not tidally locked. The planet is located well within the habitable zone of the star. 186f is much closer to its sun than we are to ours, yet it receives less energy from its sun than mars does in our solar system.
